Carefully, she chipped away
the ice,
making precise measurements
and checking for fit.
Slowly the burial box
emerged.
Beautiful,
sparkling,
safe.
The perfect shape
for its' contents.
She was especially precise
with the lid,
making the collar
smooth with a perfect seal.
When she finished
she admired
her work.
Yes, she thought
it was beautiful,
befitting the noble love
they had shared.
Smooth,
clear,
solid,
honest.
She carefully lifted
up the broken pieces
of her heart
and placed them
like a jig saw puzzle
to form the
shape of the original.
It had been 2 years
and still no healing.
Still the pain.
Happy Valentines Day.
